4 Ways To Get Your Driveway Winter Ready On The Eastern Shore

If you live in Kent Island, Easton, St. Michaels, or any of the surrounding areas on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, you know how unpredictable winter weather can be. Fall is a great time to start getting your home and property prepared for the possibility of severe weather. One of the most important things to consider is the condition of your driveway. Whether your dealing with potholes, cracks, crumbling asphalt, tree roots, or have a stone driveway that gets torn up from snow plowing, there are preventative steps you can take now.

  1. SEAL COATING- This is a great option to keep your asphalt water tight for winter moisture.
  2. CRACK FILLING- This option prevents cracks from freezing and thawing which causes more expansion of existing cracks. Crack filling is often done in conjunction with seal coating.
  3. PATCHING and POT HOLE REPAIR- This process begins with saw cutting and removing damaged or tree root areas, then filling with hot mix asphalt.
  4. ASHPALT PAVING- If you already have a stone or gravel driveway, asphalt is the best option for snow removal. The hard, smooth surface of asphalt is much easier than loose stone for a snow plow blade to push snow off your driveway.
